All relationships have ups and downs. Sometimes, though, things can get a bit stuck and it’s hard to find a positive solution. That’s when help from a skilled couple relationship counsellor can make all the difference. Whether you are feeling things just aren’t quite right or whether you are encountering serious difficulties, we are here to listen and to support you towards a positive outcome.
As one client said:
“Counselling gave us time and space to talk without arguing, and the chance to discuss how each other was feeling.”
We deliver relationship counselling through one or more 50 minute sessions with you and your partner, or with you alone if you prefer. Sessions are usually face-to-face and are completely confidential. There will be a regular weekly appointment for you, which is yours for as long as you need it. How long you continue with counselling depends entirely on your individual need.
Marriage Care has been supporting relationships for over 70 years. We have about 140 counsellors offering their time and expertise at 52 centres across England and Wales, with one centre in Gibraltar. All our counsellors have gone through a formal selection and training process. They receive regular supervision and are committed to ongoing professional development to ensure we maintain good practice.
Marriage Care is a registered charity. We don’t charge a fixed fee for our counselling service, apart from a one-off registration fee of £15 to secure your place on our waiting list. We will never turn you away because you cannot afford to give very much but we do ask all counselling clients to give a donation before of each counselling session. All our counsellors are highly trained professionals but they receive no payment for the sessions they provide. They give their time and expertise on an entirely voluntary basis. However, in order to maintain their ongoing training, supervision and the overall service, each session costs Marriage Care around £65. Our Appointments Service will ask for your first donation over the telephone when they are able to offer you an appointment. Your counsellor will directly handle the donations for all future sessions.
