I really value using my skills with Marriage Care... I feel well supported and enjoy the camaraderie of the other counsellors and chaperones.

Relationship Counsellors

Marriage Care believe that supporting couple relationships is a matter of social justice. Poor relationships lead to greater inequalities and injustice in our society. Couples and families often feel isolated, under pressure and struggle to be open about the challenges they face and seek the support they need. Our volunteer counsellors enable those in need to access professional counselling – regardless of their ability to pay.

Becoming a volunteer relationship counsellor with Marriage Care is a long term commitment that has many rewards for each volunteer and for those that they help. You will find support from like-minded people and have opportunities to increase your professional knowledge and skills in this role.

Marriage Care selects Qualified Relationship Counselors who have completed at least 150 hrs of relationship counselling and who hold a recognised qualification in relationship counselling. We also select Qualified Counselors who have at least 100 hrs supervised counselling practice and who hold a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. Qualified counsellors will need to undertake our Diploma in Relationship Counselling (formally CRC) before volunteering with us. Please click on the hyperlinked titles above to find out more about each recruitment route.
