Giving Tuesday: Interview with Veronica, Trainee Volunteer Counsellor

29-Nov-2022

In celebration of Giving Tuesday, we asked one of our Counsellors to share their experience of volunteering. Veronica is a trainee on our Certificate in Relationship Counselling course. In the following interview, she explains what drew her to Marriage Care, and what she gains from giving her time and skills to a charity.

Your name and role, and how long you have been with Marriage Care?

My name is Veronica and I have been volunteering with MC since January 2022-the selection day.

How did you join Marriage Care?

I joined Marriage Care through the CRC application process. I initially expressed an interest in becoming a volunteer Marriage Preparation facilitator. Family commitments took priority and I kept an eye on volunteering opportunities until this became available and really caught my interest.

What inspired you to volunteer for Marriage Care?

I find relationships of all kinds fascinating. I find that the way relationships can overcome a seemingly impossible hurdle even more fascinating, particularly the EFT process and how this can re-ignite couples to engage with one another.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

Building deeper understandings and connections to live a more enriching and fulfilling life. Already my understanding is greater, this will improve my life, the ones I am connected with and hopefully those I am due to come into contact with. I look forward to the continual growth.

What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering for Marriage Care?

We are just visiting this planet briefly, let’s do all we can to make life better for us all.

In three words, please summarise your volunteer experience:
