Marriage Care announces new Chief Executive

9-Jan-2013

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Molden as the new Chief Executive of Marriage Care. Mark takes up his position on 14 January. Outgoing Chief Executive Terry Prendergast will take on a supportive and consultancy role with the organisation until his retirement on 31 March after 12 years in the role.

Mark joins Marriage Care from Care for the Family, a national charity which aims to strengthen family life and to help those who face family difficulties, where he was Chief Executive. During his time there, Mark was also Chair of the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners. He has held a range of senior management roles in the voluntary, public and commercial sectors.

Mark will lead the planning of the next stage in the organisation’s commitment to helping couples and individuals in their relationships as his appointment coincides with the latest round of Government funding to deliver relationship support services.

Terry Prendergast has led the organisation through periods of great change and will be leaving it with a clear vision, a dedicated and specialist team of staff and volunteers delivering highly professional services to meet the increasing need for relationship support in this country.

Commenting on his appointment Mark said: ‘I am thrilled to be joining Marriage Care and by the opportunity to lead the team at such a time as this. The services provided by the organisation are needed more than ever and the season of increasing collaboration within the sector means we could make a real difference in the relationship health of a generation. Our vision dares to hope for a society in which all adults can build and sustain strong, fulfilling, healthy couple relationships and I am committed to pursuing that vision and building on the great legacy Terry leaves behind.’

Charles Perryman, Chair of Marriage Care said: ‘I am delighted that Mark has accepted this post. He emerged as the best candidate from a very strong field. He joins Marriage Care at an exciting period in our history as we seek to extend our mission to provide support for healthy relationships within the church and more widely in our society. I look forward to working with Mark in the months and years to come’.
