Head of Finance

Marriage Care is seeking to appoint a Head of Finance as it concludes the relocation of all its support functions out of London, expanding its existing office base in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced and qualified accountant to lead a newly established finance function and provide related support across a range of activities. 

About us: Marriage Care is a national Catholic charity and the largest faith-based provider of marriage and relationship support services in England and Wales. It is our mission to help people to prepare for, achieve and sustain healthy marriages and relationships and to support them in times of relationship difficulty or break down. We do this through our network of 53 centres and 700 professionally trained volunteers. We provide marriage preparation and counselling to thousands of people each year and have been doing so for over 70 years. 

Key responsibilities:  The Head of Finance will be a key member of the staff team based in Nottingham and will report directly to the Chief Executive. Responsibilities include financial policy and governance, budgeting, forecasting, management and statutory accounting, reporting, IT infrastructure, payroll and other duties commensurate with the role. 

Skills and competencies: We are seeking a fully qualified accountant with experience of working successfully in a finance management role, ideally in the charity or not for profit sector. You will have good communication skills with the ability to convey financial information clearly and succinctly. You will also have a high level of competence in using financial software packages (ideally Sage) as well as standard MS Office applications. 

Additional information: This role is offered on a part-time basis, between 25-30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with some flexibility).

Interviews will be held in Nottingham on either Tuesday 28 November or Thursday 30 November with a second stage interview on Tuesday 5 December.

Accounts Assistant

Marriage Care is seeking to appoint an Accounts Assistant as it concludes the relocation of all its support functions out of London, expanding its existing office base in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a pro-active and experienced individual with outstanding numerical and organisational skills to join a newly established finance function.

It is our mission to help people to prepare for, achieve and sustain healthy marriages and relationships and to support them in times of relationship difficulty or break down. We do this through our network of 53 centres and 700 professionally trained volunteers. We provide marriage preparation and counselling to thousands of people each year and have been doing so for over 70 years.

Key responsibilities: The Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Head of Finance and play a pivotal role in the Finance team, based in Nottingham.  Responsibilities include transaction and payroll processing, reporting and other duties commensurate with the role.

Skills and competencies: We are seeking someone with a good understanding of accounting, with formal training and experience of purchase ledger, BACS payments, general ledger transaction processing, cash flow monitoring, payroll processing and bank reconciliation. You will have a high level of IT competence as well as good communication skills.

Additional information: This role is offered on a full-time basis, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
