Volunteers’ Week 2012
Volunteers’ Week takes place from 1 to 7 June. Marriage Care is a relationship support organisation whose services are delivered by over 700 volunteers. Of these, about 230 are specialist relationship counsellors and every year they help around 3000 people who reach crisis point in their relationships.

Terry Prendergast appears on The Big Questions – BBC1 13 May
‘Is it ever right to spy on your spouse?’ This is the subject of a debate Terry Prendergast, CEO of Marriage Care, was invited to take part in on the BBC’s Sunday morning discussion programme The Big Questions. As the Home Affairs Select Committee investigates the regulation of private detectives, the programme looked at the most common reason people call on their services – suspected infidelity.

Chair of Marriage Care addresses National Board of Catholic Women
Look around you at the houses in any street today and you are likely to find fewer than fifty percent of the couples living there are married while their neighbours will include unmarried couples living together, some with, some without children, and with varying degrees of commitment, same sex couples, possibly in civil unions and single parents some of whom will have made a deliberate lifestyle choice to conceive and bring up a child alone while others may have been abandoned by their partners following or even before the birth of their child. None of this is likely to cause much surprise or comment.

Alf Keeling
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Alf Keeling, who died on 11th August 2010, after an illness. Alf was the Chair of the Trafford Centre, and had also been Treasurer there. in fact, Alf had been part of Marriage Care for thirty years, twenty years as counsellor and supervisor, and as Treasurer and then Centre Chair.
