Volunteer as a publicity officer

We’re looking for great communicators who are passionate about supporting marriage and healthy relationships, and can help us promote services and volunteering in the local area. Develop your skills, build links with the local community and enjoy the support of a small, friendly team whilst helping Marriage Care support healthy couple relationships.

As publicity officer, your key tasks will be to build and maintain relationships with local priests, organisations and the local press and ensure the promotion of our services and volunteering opportunities. If you are enthusiastic about relationship support, outgoing and possess good communication skills you could be just who we are looking for to help us reach more people with our services  and volunteering opportunities!

Most of our centers are virtual with centre members working from home, communicating via email and phone. Services are run in community premises and centre meetings are held in mutually convenient places. You would be working with your local centre team which comprises a team of counsellors and marriage preparation trainers, supported by a head of centre and usually a small admin team.

We are looking for someone who can commit 2-4 hours each week including some Sunday mornings for pulpit talks, attend quarterly centre meetings and the occasional regional/national conference.   In return we can offer a friendly and committed local team making a real difference to relationships, support from the national support team and a rewarding role in a dynamic and exciting organisation.

The role is very varied. I have been able to shape it to suit my skills and experience. And it's rewarding to see that we are attracting more clients and volunteers.”
