Become a FOCCUS facilitator
Many couples get caught up in planning the details of the wedding and pay less attention to planning their married relationship. Differing expectations can lead to problems later on, while a little time spent now can pay dividends in a happy relationship.
Our FOCCUS facilitators are trained to work with individual couples using the research-based questionnaire, FOCCUS©. The facilitator helps the couple agree on their expectations of the relationship and discuss issues which might present difficulties later on.
If you want to help couples shape the marriage they want, and have good listening and communication skills, this could be the right volunteering role for you.
We will give you full training and support so that you are confident and qualified to help couples prepare for their marriage. In return we ask you to help ten couples a year.
The training course usually takes place over three days. The content includes an introduction to FOCCUS and the value of pre-marriage inventories; the procedure for scoring manually and online; and the facilitation process with a couple. Successful participants will receive the Marriage Care FOCCUS facilitator certificate and will be registered as a trained facilitator with Foccus Inc (www.foccusInc.com).

I had been a counsellor for Marriage Care for a number of years and became very interested when they decided to develop FOCCUS. The new training gave me a whole new set of experiences and knowledge. It was also different working with a couple stressed out because they were happy and thinking about their wedding, instead of those who had stress that comes from relationship problems!”
