Become a FOCCUS facilitator

Are you passionate about healthy marriages? We’re looking for enthusiastic facilitators to guide couples who are getting married in the Catholic Church, in understanding their relationship using the research-based questionnaire, FOCCUS©.

You will ideally have a background in facilitating and essentially have an understanding of the Catholic/Christian values of marriage. We ask for a commitment to prepare and deliver at least 10 FOCCUS sessions each year and attend centre and training meetings as necessary. In return we provide you with full training and a committed local team making a real difference to relationships, support from the national support team and a fulfilling role in a dynamic and exciting organisation.

The training

The training course usually takes place over two days. The content includes an introduction to FOCCUS and the value of pre-marriage inventories; the procedure for scoring manually and online; and the facilitation process with a couple. Once you have satisfactorily completed the course you will be awarded the Marriage Care FOCCUS facilitator certificate and will be registered as a trained facilitator with FOCCUS Inc (

I had been a counsellor for Marriage Care for a number of years and became very interested when they decided to develop FOCCUS. The new training gave me a whole new set of experiences and knowledge. It was also different working with a couple stressed out because they were happy and thinking about their wedding, instead of those who had stress that comes from relationship problems!”
